Job description

We are looking for an experienced assistant manager to lead our Equine and Farm Animal team at the MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen (40 hours/week, weekends required). As the Assistant Manager for Nevins Farm, you would join the Leadership team at our 55 acre animal care complex that provides adoption services for companion and farm animals as well as low cost veterinary services through our Community Clinic.ย 

Salary: $55,000โ€“$70,000, depending on experience. Relocation assistance available for out of state applicants.

WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO

Youโ€™ll work closely with our Shelter Manager and Director of Operations to:

  • Guide and support an incredible team of staff and volunteers at the barn
  • Oversee daily animal care, intake and adoptions
  • Lead group discussions, trainings, scheduling, performance development, and team culture
  • In conjunction with the volunteer coordinator, foster a positive and supportive culture aimed at the inclusion, development and integration of volunteers into our collective goal
  • Work with the Equine and Farm Outreach and Rescue Manager and the Law Enforcement team on the collection, transport and intake of farm animal cases.ย 
  • Model the kindness and professionalism that define the MSPCA

WHAT WEโ€™RE LOOKING FOR

  • 1 years of management or supervisory experienceย 
  • 5 years of equine/farm animal experience
  • Advanced knowledge of equine and farm animal husbandry and welfare
  • A compassionate, people-centered leader who believes deeply in helping animals and their families
  • A commitment to maintaining the positive, supportive culture we've built
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus!
