JOB SUMMARY
As a n Interpretive Guide at Crystal Mountain , you will greet and provide information to guests visiting Crystal . You will commit to providing excellent experiences and memories of a lifetime . While maintaining a presence at the top of Mt. Rainier Gondola and the nearby ridgeline you will provide helpful information to guests on a variety of naturalist and area specific visitor info.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide assistance to guests in main plaza

  • Act as a greeter at the top of Mt. Rainier Gondola

  • Periodically conduct brief interpretive walks across the mountain’s ridgeline, between the top of the gondola and the top of Green Valley chair

  • Promote Leave No Trace (LNT) and USFS practices for minimizing visitor impacts and preserving the natural beauty of our surrounding environment

  • Occasionally may be requested to support other departments in maintenance and operational task s

  • Respond to customer concerns / questions

  • Contribute to a positive working environment

  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and secure working environment

  • Promote and ensure safe practices using all required PPE and adhering to proper safety protocols in all activities

  • Promote and market activit y options to our guests

  • A ttend daily pre-shift meetings and necessary trainings

  • Gather guest feedback and recommend improvements to management

  • Promote and maintain the highest level of customer service by anticipating the needs of our guests even before they realize what they need

  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refer the matter to management. Notify supervisor of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items or alleged thefts.

  • Develop and maintain an organizational culture, values and reputation with staff and guests.

  • Ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment .

  • Act as a representative of Crystal Mountain with guests & community members.

  • Abide by all Crystal Mountain employment guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Basic First Aid & CPR preferred .

  • High energy, p ositive attitude and excellent communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays while in operation.

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position at least 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Comfort walking on mountain trails .

  • Must be comfortable in a public speaking role providing brief 30- 45 minute informative hikes.

  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate radios, mobile devices, and basic outdoor equipment constantly.

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling constantly.

  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees, must be able to listen and respond with proper customer service.
