Job description

FANUC Robot Programmer (GM Automotive)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced FANUC Robot Programmer to support multiple General Motors (GM) manufacturing facilities, with the primary focus on GM Orion. This position requires a hands-on robotics professional who can load existing robot programs, perform robot touch-ups, troubleshoot, debug, and commission automated production cells. Most robot programming has already been completed, making this an ideal opportunity for an experienced programmer who excels in startup, integration, and production support.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with FANUC robotics, iRVision, SCARA robots, and automotive manufacturing environments. GM GRS Certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Load existing FANUC robot programs into production cells.
  • Perform robot point touch-ups, calibration, and optimization.
  • Debug and troubleshoot robotic systems during startup and commissioning.
  • Support commissioning of multiple automated manufacturing cells across GM facilities.
  • Work with FANUC SR12 and SR20 SCARA robots utilizing 2D iRVision.
  • Support robotic applications where one robot picks nuts from a flexible feeder (Flexi-Feeder) while another robot performs drilling operations.
  • Support a Body Underside automation cell utilizing a FANUC R-1000 robot with a carried torque tool.
  • Configure and troubleshoot iRVision applications used to locate nuts on vehicle undercarriages for automated torque operations.
  • Assist with systems utilizing FANUC CRX collaborative robots (cobots).
  • Work closely with controls, manufacturing, and engineering teams to resolve production issues.
  • Ensure robotic systems meet production, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support during startup and production ramp-up.

Qualifications

  • Experience programming FANUC industrial robots.
  • Strong knowledge of FANUC TP Programming.
  • Experience with FANUC iRVision and 2D Vision Systems.
  • Experience with FANUC SR12 and SR20 SCARA robots.
  • Experience with Felding/feeding systems, Flexi-Feeders, or automated part presentation.
  • Experience with FANUC R-1000 robots.
  • Experience integrating or supporting torque tools on robotic applications.
  • Familiarity with FANUC CRX collaborative robots (Cobots).
  • Automotive manufacturing experience, preferably within General Motors (GM) production facilities.
  • Experience with robot startup, commissioning, debugging, and production support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot robotic, vision, and automation issues independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • GM GRS Certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel between multiple GM manufacturing plants as required.
  • Ability to start immediately is highly preferred.
