Job description

Role Overview:
We are seeking AMI/FAN Network Operations Analysts to support backlog reduction and ongoing operations for Smart Meter and Field Area Network (FAN) environments. This role involves triaging device connectivity issues, executing standardized troubleshooting workflows, and coordinating with field teams for resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and process ServiceNow tickets triggered from UIM (Event-based alerts, e.g., Event 44).
  • Execute step-by-step triage using FAN Triage Document.
  • Analyze device connectivity issues across Smart Meters (Gas/Electric), Relays, Access Points (APs), and FAN Mesh network.
  • Diagnose common failure scenarios including communication failure, power failure/device offline states, device reboot requirements, and network congestion.
  • Validate whether issues are network-related, device-related, or data/reporting lag issues.
  • Update ServiceNow OT instance with triage steps performed, observations, root cause, and action taken/escalation decision.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for CIP compliance.
  • Raise SAP Work Orders (WO) for field crews if issues persist and track their lifecycle from creation to completion.
  • Validate field resolution and update ticket status.
  • Work across multiple AMI/FAN platforms such as AMM Console, Gridscape, CDDB, UIQ, AMI FAN Application, and UIM.
  • Manage a queue of approximately 400-500 backlog tickets, prioritizing based on network impact, outage duration, and cluster/FAN group impact.

Required Skills:
  • Experience in AMI / Smart Metering / Utility Networks.
  • Understanding of FAN Mesh Networks and Device Communication Flow (Meters ? Relays ? Access Points ? Collectors).
  • Knowledge of network self-healing behavior and path redundancy.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow for ticket triage and updates.
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of IPv6 (in an Itron environment context).
  • Understanding of Event-based monitoring systems (like UIM).

Preferred Skills:
  • Exposure to Gridscape.
  • Exposure to AMM Console.
  • Exposure to UIM or similar monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to SAP Work Order management.
