Job description

TITLE OF POSITION:                    Family Resource Coordinator - Emerson Elementary School - .75 FRC 
QUALIFICATIONS:                       Social Work License preferred
RESPONSIBLE TO:                        Building Principal, Director/Coordinator of Student Services and/or designee
 




GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Support building parent involvement policies. Act as a liaison between faculty and parents. Assist with ECSE Parent Involvement compliance. Promote a positive public relations image. Follow adopted board policies.                                                                                          
SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Develop and oversee Parent Involvement & Community Involvement programs in school buildings.
    1. Respond to requests for assistance from staff, administrators and parents
    2. Assist as member of the crisis team crisis by assessing the situation and implementing interventions as a team member
    3. Participate on problem solving teams
    4. Support  case management when appropriate
    5. Make home visits when needed
  2. Create an atmosphere which generates a comfort level for parents in the school building through activities which may include monthly meetings, phone calls, and home visits.
  3. Provides informational programs on topics of interest based on parent suggestions.
  4. Connect parents with community resources, including social service organizations.
  5. Improve parent/child connections by assisting with various activities which may include family educational classes, cultural integration efforts, family activity nights, etc.
  6. Collaborate with staff on the functioning of a parent/community volunteer program  in buildings.
  7. Support PTA/PTO and other community/parent efforts within each building.
  8. Work in cooperation with other district and city personnel to assist families.
  9. Maintain documentation of all parent education or involvement activities
  10. Support students during early release hours.
