Job description

Tenet Healthcare, along with Detroit Medical Center, is actively seeking a board-certified Family Medicine Physician interested in providing resident education for our program in Detroit, MI.
The Detroit Medical Center Sinai-Grace Hospital/MSU-COM Family Medicine Residency Program is based in northwest Detroit, Michigan, and proudly serves one of the city's most vulnerable populations. The program successfully integrates strong, university-driven academic standards with exposure to a broad spectrum of pathologies. Our exceptional training includes clinical experience at Grand River Health Center, a family practice that has served the Detroit community for nearly 30 years. All rotations take place within the DMC system, a nationally recognized health care system that serves patients and families throughout Michigan and beyond.
This is a full-time Core Faculty position.
Job Responsibilities:

  • M-F Schedule 8AM to 5PM, no weekend requirements; Practice Call is shared
    • 1 Day per week for resident precepting, clinical supervision
    • 1 Day per week maintaining personal clinical practice/patient panel
    • .5 Day per week for didactics, lectures, curriculum development
    • 2.5 Days per week admin responsibilities
  • Participate in supervisory and teaching responsibilities for residents in an outpatient setting
  • Serve as an advisor and role model for Family Medicine residents
  • Participate in recruiting new residents into the program
  • Maintain scholarly activity in accordance with ACGME requirements
  • Participate in resident journal clubs
  • Mentor residents on their senior projects and participate in research studies
  • Provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting
Candidate Requirements:
  • MD/DO degree
  • DEA certificate
  • Board certification with the American Board of Family Medicine
  • Maintain CME
  • Licensed in Michigan or eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Michigan
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within 3 months of hire
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and to community health centers
Work Experience:
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine
  • Experience with outpatient medical faculty preferred
