Reports To: Director of Family Ministries

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, with regular evening and weekend responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

The Hillside Kids Team Lead serves under the direction of the Director of Family Ministries to lead the day-to-day ministry of Hillside Kids by implementing the vision and strategy of Family Ministries while developing staff, strengthening ministry systems, and ensuring children and families experience safe, engaging, and Christ-centered ministry environments.


Working through a team of staff and volunteers, the Hillside Kids Team Lead ensures ministry initiatives are executed with excellence across weekend services, midweek programs, and special events. This role develops leaders, strengthens ministry operations, and creates scalable systems that support healthy ministry growth while fostering an environment where children, families, volunteers, and staff can thrive.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Hillside Kids Vision + Ministry Strategy

  • Partner with the Director of Family Ministries to implement the vision, priorities, and strategic direction for Hillside Kids in alignment with Hillside Fellowship's mission, vision, values, and Family Ministries strategy
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of Hillside Kids ministry initiatives, ensuring consistency, excellence, and alignment across all ministry environments
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen ministry systems, environments, and operational effectiveness
  • Strengthen and refine ministry systems that support healthy, scalable, and sustainable ministry operations
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking by anticipating ministry needs, identifying challenges, and implementing thoughtful, people-centered solutions


Team Leadership + Development

  • Build and cultivate a healthy, unified staff team through intentional leadership, coaching, encouragement, feedback, and relational investment
  • Lead with a servant's heart, fostering a team culture of accountability, collaboration, excellence, and mission alignment
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations and quality standards across all Hillside Kids functions
  • Provide direct supervision to Hillside Kids staff through regular communication, performance coaching, accountability, and ongoing support
  • Effectively delegate responsibilities and empower staff leaders with appropriate ownership, authority, and support to accomplish ministry goals
  • Build and maintain a healthy staff leadership pipeline by identifying, developing, and equipping emerging staff leaders who are prepared to lead others effectively
  • Lead through staff leaders by translating ministry vision into clear direction, support, and accountability for those responsible for volunteer development, children's discipleship, and family engagement, ensuring each ministry area operates with excellence and remains aligned with Hillside Kids' vision, values, and quality standards
  • Model healthy leadership rhythms, emotional maturity, and spiritual health while fostering a culture of care, encouragement, and support throughout the ministry


Weekend + Program Oversight

  • Provide oversight for all Hillside Kids ministry environments, including weekend services, midweek programs, special events, camps, and seasonal ministry initiatives
  • Ensure learning environments, ministry resources, staffing, and operational systems are prepared to support safe, engaging, and Christ-centered ministry experiences
  • Oversee ministry operations across all weekend services, ensuring consistency, quality, safety, and effective volunteer deployment
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, concerns, and parent needs while exercising wisdom, discernment, and care
  • Ensure all ministry environments operate with excellence while remaining welcoming, engaging, and age-appropriate


Financial Stewardship + Ministry Oversight

  • Develop and manage the Hillside Kids ministry budget, stewarding resources wisely and in alignment with ministry priorities
  • Regularly review budget performance, practice good stewardship, and seek guidance as needed to support ministry goals
  • Monitor ministry expenses and resource allocation throughout the year, making adjustments as needed to support effective stewardship and ministry priorities
  • Assess future ministry needs and provide recommendations regarding staffing, resources, facilities, and ministry growth opportunities


Collaboration + Churchwide Alignment

  • Partner with the Director of Family Ministries, Family Ministries staff, and church leadership to ensure alignment across ministries serving children, students, and families
  • Work closely with Worship, Communications, Hospitality, Facilities, Production, and other ministry teams to support ministry effectiveness and churchwide initiatives
  • Participate in ministry planning conversations that support discipleship, leadership development, family ministry, and organizational growth
  • Foster strong communication, collaboration, and healthy relationships between Hillside Kids and the broader ministry of Hillside Fellowship


Additional Responsibilities

  • This role may include additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission and leadership of Hillside Fellowship, with the scope of ministry growing and adapting as organizational needs change


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


Faith + Character

  • Demonstrates a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ and embodies the culture and values of Hillside Fellowship (Galatians 5:22-23)
  • Must be a member of Hillside Fellowship or willing to pursue membership within six months of hire
  • Demonstrates a passion for helping children and families grow in their relationship with Jesus
  • Approaches leadership with humility, wisdom, integrity, and a servant-hearted mindset
  • Models healthy spiritual, emotional, and relational rhythms


Education + Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; degree in ministry, education, child development, leadership, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of ministry leadership experience preferred
  • Experience leading children's ministry, family ministry, educational programs, or related ministry environments preferred
  • Experience supervising staff required
  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams, managing multiple ministry environments, and executing ministry strategy effectively
