Job description

President & CEO Reporting to the Board of Directors Manchester, NH   Families in Transition (FIT) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and breaking the cycle of homelessness. FIT serves individuals and families experiencing housing instability by providing emergency shelter, affordable housing, food access, substance use disorder treatment, and a wide range of supportive services. Their approach is grounded in compassion, innovation, and a belief that everyone deserves a safe, stable place to live.

FIT’s impact is significant, with over 1,100 adults and children served through housing and shelter programs in 2025, a high rate of housing stability among clients, and nearly 15,000 households reached through their food pantry. The organization is at a pivotal moment, moving from operational stabilization to a new phase of growth and expansion, guided by a strategic plan that prioritizes evolving core services, developing a comprehensive asset management plan for housing, strengthening collaborations and advocacy, and fostering a unified, mission-driven staff culture.   FIT is seeking a President & CEO who will serve as the chief executive and strategic leader, responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, ensuring long-term sustainability, and strengthening FIT’s role as a trusted voice in statewide conversations about homelessness and community well-being. The ideal candidate will be a visionary, mission-driven leader with experience in nonprofit, human services, housing, or healthcare sectors.

They must demonstrate strategic thinking, operational discipline, strong financial stewardship, and the ability to build high-impact relationships with public and private partners.   The President & CEO will oversee a complex portfolio of programs, manage an annual budget exceeding $10 million, and lead fundraising and advocacy efforts. High emotional intelligence, transparency, and a collaborative leadership style are essential, as is a deep understanding of homelessness, housing instability, and related support services. A bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in a related field is preferred.   For best consideration, submit a letter of introduction and current resume to Kittleman & Associates, LLC by July 21, 2026.   To apply, visit: https://apptrkr.com/7200041
