POSITION: Head Coach for Fall Cheerleading
Putnam High School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our Fall Cheerleading program as Head Coach. We are looking for a dedicated professional committed to fostering a positive and competitive athletic environment, developing student-athletes both on and off the sidelines, and working collaboratively to prepare athletes for the winter competition season.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Program Leadership: Oversee all levels of the Fall Cheerleading program, fostering a positive, inclusive, and academically successful team culture.
  • Coaching & Instruction: Plan and conduct effective practices, focusing on skill development, proper stunting techniques, choreography, safety progressions, and physical conditioning.
  • Performance Management: Manage performances and school spirit leadership at fall athletic events and pep rallies.
  • Winter Transition Preparation: Coordinate and implement preparatory training to ready athletes for the upcoming winter competition season, collaborating with the Winter Cheerleading Head Coach as necessary.
  • Player Development: Mentor student-athletes, monitor academic progress, assist with college recruitment, and support holistic student growth.
  • Administrative Oversight: Manage uniforms, equipment, budget, travel coordination, and maintain accurate program records.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all school, district, and athletic association rules and regulations
  • Community Engagement: Communicate effectively with stakeholders and participate in fundraising efforts.
  • Feeder Program Development: Build strong relationships with youth organizations to support long-term program growth.
  • Off-Season Training: Work with the Winter Cheerleading Head Coach to implement comprehensive off-season strength, conditioning, and skill development programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CT Certification 600: Interscholastic/Intramural Coach or eligibility for certification required
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, stunting safety progressions, and crowd leadership strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

RATE OF PAY: $2,567 for the 2026-2027 School Year (* season runs August - November)
