Job description
- PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited doctoral program with a specialization in Clinical Psychology, including combined clinical programs (e.g., Clinical/School Psychology).
- ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree should be expected by the time the position begins. More advanced candidates currently in a tenure-track position can request time awarded towards the tenure clock.
- By the start of appointment, must be licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist, Health Service Provider in North Carolina through the NC Psychology Board.
- Evidence of success or potential for developing significant research, quality publications, and external funding.
- Clinical and/or research experience relevant to children and adolescents, or rural communities.
- Interest in teaching cognitive assessment.
- Completion of an APA/CPA-accredited internship.

- Teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate level.
The Department proudly offers a Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program that embraces a scholar-practitioner philosophy and a small cohort, mentor match model. We provide assistantship funding to all students for four years. This program is specifically designed to develop empirically-informed clinical psychologists who are prepared to serve as generalists in rural areas. We offer a rigorous program of study and are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based training. The program is currently accredited by APA on contingency, with the application for full accreditation to be submitted in 2026.
- Develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester.
- Maintain a productive program of research, including publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students' research including foundational projects and dissertations.
- Seek external funding (e.g., research, workforce development, outreach, student funding).
- Provide professional service to the program, department, university, community, and discipline.
