Facilities Services Associate
POSITION DETAILS:
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $24.00-$28.00
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday (Day shift 7am-3:30pm) may occasionally require evenings, weekends, and holidays supporting the plant production schedule.
Location: South Bend, Indiana
WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
This position plays a key role in supporting daily plant operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized production environment. The Facilities Services Associate will assist with facility housekeeping, equipment cleaning, maintenance preparation, material handling, and general operational support across the plant. This role works closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to help ensure workplace cleanliness and equipment readiness. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, team-oriented, and willing to support a variety of plant and production activities as needed. This position reports directly to the Production Assistant.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Perform routine inspections of plant areas to identify and address housekeeping issues promptly.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning supplies safely and effectively.
  • Perform cleaning activities on production equipment and work areas as directed by Operations, ensuring equipment and surfaces remain free of debris and contaminants. Duties may include milling building cleaning, dryer yard cleaning, cyclone cleaning, wet cake pad cleaning, drum/tote handling, and triple rinsing, labeling, capping, and inventorying containers for disposal.
  • Support maintenance activities by assisting with lockout/tagout procedures, equipment flushing, maintenance preparation, equipment startup activities, and water treatment processes as needed.
  • Assist with pretreat operations, including belt press operation, as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the plant and facility, including production areas, common spaces, and storage locations.
  • Participate in outage and facility improvement projects, including cleaning and painting guards, handrails, and other plant structures.
  • Handle and dispose of waste materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Operate forklifts and assist with material movement and scaffold inspections.
  • Identify and report maintenance or repair concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide general support to plant operations, including material handling and additional production-related tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning supplies safely.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational competencies and attention to detail.
  • Manage priorities under pressure.
  • Previous experience in industrial cleaning or housekeeping is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
  • Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
  • Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.

As a global leader in the renewable energy industry, this will be Verbio's second US production facility following the successful commissioning of its Nevada, IA plant.
