Coordinates activities within areas of responsibility, assists in overall budget monitoring, promotes communication and positive public relations both inter-departmentally and intra-departmentally. Monitors quality assurance to meet hospital set standards, assist areas of responsibility to become self-managing units. Ensures that all safety policies and procedures are met.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field AND three (3) years of facility/engineering experience, with one (1) year of supervisory experience OR
Associate's degree in engineering or related field AND five (5) years of facility/engineering experience, with three (3) years of supervisory experience OR -
High school diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years of facility/engineering experience, with five (5) years of supervisory experience.
2. Valid Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
1. Related experience in a healthcare setting.

1. Coordinates day-to-day activities to ensure proper operation and maintenance of hospital building systems, ensures proper parts and materials are provided in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
2. Coordinates the operations and maintenance of building mechanical systems, plumbing, medical gas, HVAC, fire protection, pneumatic tube, temperature control, kitchen equipment, etc.
3. Coordinates the operations and maintenance of building electrical systems; primarily and secondary distribution systems, Life Safety Systems lighting, emergency generators, motor control equipment, isolation power, etc.
4. Coordinates the operation and maintenance of building communication systems; nurse call, fire alarm, music, paging, etc.
5. Coordinates the maintenance of building architectural systems; doors, windows, painting walls, and floor covering, ceilings, patient room checks.
6. Coordinates with other departments to minimize interruptions and conflicts with workload, projects, and programs when specific job assignments are of an intradepartmental nature.
7. Coordinates maintenance service contracts and supplemental use of contractors to generate maximum added value to overall operating costs and job completions.
8. Coordinates the required activities to assure the hospital meets all regulatory codes.
9. Maintains and updates the environment of care policies for accrediting bodies.
10. Coordinates and monitors the responsibility statement to assure the Facilities Engineering budget is met.
11. Coordinates projects and renovations involving the utility systems.
12. Coordinates shift schedules for teams and ensuring that the building is covered 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
13. Coordinates team activities to ensure that all work is carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner, with optimum usage of manpower and supplies.
14. Ensures that all work in the department complies with hospital and department policies and procedures, accrediting bodies, AHA, NFPA, NEC, Federal State and Local codes.
15. Plans and coordinates all required testing activities with other departments (monthly generator test, fire pump test, electrical testing, fire system testing, etc.).
16. Continually seeks education and training opportunities. Participates in on-going education activities to develops, maintains, and enhances professional expertise as monitored by VP Support Services.
17. Deals with a most diverse and broad range of problems and situations that entail high levels of complexity and management skills.
