Job Description:
Job Summary
We are recruiting a nonofabrication engineer to support several projects related to the development and characterization of semiconductor materials and devices which enable study topological state of matter and qubits. This position is an opportunity to make crucial contributions to emerging quantum device technology. Hands-on experience with developing new process steps and flows for semiconductor device fabrication is expected. Expertise in e-beam lithography and/or atomic layer deposition and/or gate dielectric characterization methods will be considered favorably.
Dutie and Responsibilities
  • Develop, operate, and characterize semiconductor device fabrication processes in cleanroom facilities located at Purdue University.
  • Accurately document and effectively communicate all procedures and results to the larger research group.
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Train other personnel on the correct operation of equipment and "best-practices" in semiconductor processing.

What We're Looking For:
  • Master's Degree in Materials Science or an Engineering discipline
  • Hands-on experience working with some of the following semiconductor device fabrication equipment/processes in a cleanroom environment: e-beam lithography; atomic layer deposition; thin film metals deposition; Ar ion-milling
  • Ability to follow protocols to operate sophisticiated experimental equipment and to safely work with industrial solvents, acids, and bases in a cleanroom environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency at accurately documenting processes and protocols
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills as needed to work with a large group of researchers
