Job description

Location: Merrillville Ace Hardware

Reports to: Owner/Operator

Overview:

Merrillville Ace Hardware is seeking a hands-on Store

Manager who will take ownership of store operations, drive sales, and lead a

team focused on delivering an outstanding customer experience. This is a

full-time, leadership role ideal for someone with a retail management

background and a passion for community-based service.

Key Responsibilities: Store Operations & Leadership

- Manage daily operations including

opening/closing, merchandising, and customer service

- Lead and support the team to meet sales goals, control costs, and drive overall store performance

- Ensure the store is fully stocked, clean, organized, and "Customer Ready" at all times

Customer Experience

- Promote a culture of service and ensure every customer has a positive in-store experience

- Resolve escalated customer issues promptly and professionally

- Oversee the implementation of Ace Rewards and other promotional programs

Team Management

- Train, and develop store associates

- Delegate daily responsibilities and set clear expectations

- Motivate the team through coaching, feedback, and accountability

Inventory & Merchandising

- Maintain accurate inventory counts and manage product replenishment

- Execute seasonal floor sets, promotional signage, and end cap displays

- Monitor shrink and implement best practices to reduce loss

Maintenance & Safety

- Oversee store appearance, repairs, and preventative maintenance

- Ensure safety protocols and company standards are followed

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required; college preferred

- 2+ years of retail management experience, hardware knowledge a plus

- Strong leadership, time management, and communication skills

- Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods

- Proficient in retail systems and POS technology (Eagle, Acenet, etc.)
