Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Cut fabric cover in accordance to required production and quality standards.
  • Fabric varies from cloth, leather or bonded leather.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Spreading
  • Must learn to read and understand daily production schedule in order to accurately produce daily requirements.
  • Learn cover numbers to identify different covers and colors for respective styles to be cut.
  • Retrieve roll(s) of cover, duon, logo or muslin material, cut pattern, work order and cutting schedule to prepare and begin spreading process.
  • Check tyvek pattern to verify style and pattern number to the production cut order.
  • For orders which require multiple rolls of the same color cover, each roll must be examined to ensure exact color likeness (shading).
  • Make certain that marked off lines which reflect pattern length are not exceeded.
  • Spread fabric so that a straight edge is kept on one side.
  • Remove all flaws from fabric during the process.
  • The last layer applied will be the black marking paper.
  • Properly align pattern on top of the marking paper.
  • Apply dusting powder to identify parts, cut lines and notches.
  • Tag unused roll of fabric with accurate yardage for future use.
  • Write style number on the marking paper of each completed order.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Self-monitor production throughout the day to maintain required level of production.
  • Communicates with supervisor and lead person as needed on questions or problems that occur while performing job.
  • Maintain clean and organized work station.
  • Assist others when necessary.

Cutting
  • Must learn to read and understand daily production schedule in order to accurately produce daily requirements.
  • Learn cover numbers to identify different covers and colors for respective styles to be cut.
  • Begin by checking the style number recorded on the marking paper.
  • Check and verify that the marking paper is correctly positioned on the spread cover.
  • Staple marking paper to spread.
  • Use marking chalk to help identify notches.
  • Don metal protective glove. Always, with no exception, wear metal protective glove on not-cutting hand.
  • Using electric knife, accurately cut lines and notches.
  • Accurately punch holes in duon.
  • Make tie off strings for bundling and sewing.

Bundling
  • Must learn to read and understand daily production schedule in order to accurately produce daily requirements.
  • Learn style, cover and parts numbers to identify different covers and colors for respective styles/parts.
  • Obtain like parts within a work order and bundle together.
  • Use label gun to identify all parts.
  • Place identification label on card/tag.
  • Place ticket with the work order number on the bundle.
  • Place the bundled cut parts in the rack for the sewing department.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Self-monitor production throughout the day to maintain required level of production.
  • Communicates with supervisor and lead person as needed on questions or problems that occur while performing job.
  • Maintain clean and organized work station.
  • Assist others when necessary.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Immediately report any work related injury or illness.
  • Keep the work area neat and free of hazards. THE USE OF COMPRESSED AIR WITHOUT PROPER SAFETY NOZZLE IS PROHIBITED FOR CLEAN-UP.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Always ensure proper lifting techniques: avoid bending and twisting at the waist whenever possible.
  • Inspect hand tools and protective equipment before use.
  • Learn the hazards of the equipment and procedures used on the job.
  • Report any defective, malfunctioning machine, tool or protective equipment immediately.
  • Participate in safety training and safety meetings.
  • Report any hazards or risks related to policies or procedures.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Basic reading and writing skills required.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate the English language.
  • Must be able to correctly identify colors.

SAFETY
  • Personal Protection Equipment should be worn at all times within the department as well as throughout the plant where designated.
  • Safety is enforced each day to prevent any accidents.
