    Job description

In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.
    NATURE AND SCOPE:
    Under the leadership of the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Bilingual (Spanish) Early Learning Readiness (ELR) Manager will be primarily responsible to plan, delivery, and supervise the associations Early Learning Readiness program and for the successful achievement of improved social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and general well-being of children and their adult caregivers. The director works directly with the ELR Facilitators as part of the planning & delivery process.
    RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
    • Lead and supervise teaching team in the creation and implementation of developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive learning environments that nurture children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
    • Provide support and supervision to teaching team to ensure implementation of individualized, developmentally appropriate curriculum that's aligned with Early Learning Standards.
    • Lead and supervise teaching team in positive interactions between staff and children including practicing positive behavior guidance, encouraging and modeling developmentally appropriate social behaviors and appropriate expression of emotions, and demonstrating responsiveness to children's interests, needs, and abilities.
    • In partnership with the team and other administrative staff, ensure all child school readiness data is collected, analyzed, and utilized appropriately to guide classroom instruction and continuous program improvement.
    • Monitor and report on progress toward the program's goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of the performance of Teachers, Teaching Assistants, CDA's and Substitutes.
    • Serve as coach and mentor to teaching staff in providing individualized, high-quality services.
    • Address staff performance concerns in an appropriate and timely manner in collaboration with the Center Operations Manager and Human Resources staff.
    • Complete monthly classroom observations of assigned teaching staff and provide quality, specific feedback designed to increase the quality of teaching and learning.
    • Identify overall staff training needs and assist in the planning and implementation of staff development workshops and other in-service programs.
    • Support Teaching staff in completing accurate and timely comprehensive developmental assessments on children.
    • Hold regular staff meetings (minimum of one per month) to disseminate information, provide staff with an avenue to share best practices and provide feedback.
    • Monitor assigned sites regularly to ensure compliance with program standards and internal policies and procedures.
    • Maintain complete, accurate data for all sites and submit monthly and annual reports in a timely manner.
    • Create program delivery schedules and supervise staff to ensure they carry out daily program tasks.
    • Ensure all Early Learning Readiness programs run smoothly with a high level of service to participants.
    • Plan and implement all program evaluations & outcomes measurements.
    • Drive the Y program van to and from program site daily as needed.
    • Load and un-load learning center equipment into the van daily.
    • Assist as needed in setting up learning environment with program equipment.
    • Stay updated on current issues regarding Early Learning programs. Schedule and direct the planning and delivery of learning activities and curriculum.
    • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Metro Atlanta YMCA New Staff Orientation, Branch and off-site Emergency procedures] and any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
    • Responsible for maintaining and reporting incident/accident paperwork.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
    • High school diploma / GED and 4+ years of experience OR CDA (Child Development Associate) Certificate and 3+ years OR bachelor's degree in education and 2+ years working with children 0-5
    • 1+ years supervisory experience
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Must be able to drive a cargo van and travel to multiple locations within a 30-mile radius of the central office location.
    • Must be able to travel daily to multiple sites in the community including the set up and breakdown of 15 learning centers at each location
    • A working knowledge of computers: MS Word, MS Excel, data base management.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective time management skills.
    • Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality
    • Pass a Motor Vehicles Record and have own transportation
    • CPR within 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
    • 5+ years progressive experience working with children ages 0-5
    • 2+ years of supervisory experience
