Job description

Summary

Reports to the Supervisor and/or Lead, the Extrusion Machine Operator will be responsible for all aspects of the setup and operation of the extruders. The Extrusion Operator will also be responsible for the cleaning and changeovers.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the operation of the primary compounding and the secondary blending of raw materials required in the extrusion area and at specified levels of productivity.
  • Execute basic mechanical tasks, including disassembly and reassembly of equipment for cleaning and changeover.
  • Troubleshoot material issues as needed.
  • Monitor production, adjust machines and drive forklift for material movement.
  • Basic Maintenance i.e. changing and cleaning of filters and Cleaning and Extruder Screw Cleaning.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as changing and cleaning filters, changing die heads or inserts.
  • Maintain timely and efficient task execution on extruders with established standards.
  • Complete and maintain necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure a clean work area and adhere to housekeeping standards (6S)
  • Load required materials, including hooking up sacks of materials in hoppers.
  • Maintain high level of quality consistent with company standards.
  • Comply with safety rules, company policies, procedures, and standard operating instructions.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, leaders, and supervisors/managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to the satisfaction of supervisor and/or lead.
