Job description

We are targeting experienced Extrusion Operators for 1st, 2nd & 3rd shift. Please only apply if you have relevant extrusion experience and can work either:

1st- shift - 8:00AM-4:00PM

2nd Shift - 4:00PM-12:00AM

3rd Shift - 12:00AM-8:30AM


Position Summary

The Extrusion Operator will be responsible for manufacturing plastic tubing products that meet customer specifications. This position follows standard work methods to ensure production repeatability and the highest quality standards. This job operates in a controlled manufacturing environment designed for sustained production. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Set up, up and operate the extrusion equipment according to approved parameters for the item(s) to be manufactured – specifically related to single lumen tubes.
  • Adjust tooling as required to produce extrusions that meet the specifications
  • Adjust processing parameters as allowed within the approved range(s) in order to maintain the product within the approved specification
  • Inspect products according to approved methods and standards using approved equipment
  • Collect and package products according to approved standards as required
  • Observe machine operation to detect work-piece defects or machine malfunction
  • Complete applicable paperwork and enter data into computer as required
  • Perform proper line shutdown and purging as per work instructions
  • Remove tooling and arrange equipment in preparation for the next work order to be processed
  • Confer with supervisor/manager or other applicable parties to address and resolve problems
  • Assist in training other operators as required
  • Lifting of materials and equipment is necessary, typically not in excess of 25 pounds. but occasionally may be between 50-100 pounds
  • Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong technical aptitude required
  • Ability to communicate technical challenges and receive and carry out improvement suggestions is necessary
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Quality conscious with an attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude a must

Preferred

  • Plastic tubing extrusion manufacturing experience is not required, but strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instruction
