Job description

The Extrusion Tech is responsible for the product that is being extruded as described by the production work order and quality check sheet. The primary function is to monitor the material from the extruder through the calibration table, all additional downstream until packaging. The Tech will make necessary adjustments to keep the product within the quality guidelines as determined by the customer, including but not limited to; dimensional and cosmetic standards, material handling, paperwork and assist Techs as necessary.

  • Operates extrusion equipment, conducts color changeovers, and strings product from extruder to puller
  • Ensure extrusion lines and pullers are running properly to meet productivity goals and quality standards
  • Mentors and assists new employees to ensure proper training
  • Record inspection data through periodic quality checks Anticipate, identify and troubleshoot any equipment issues completing maintenance forms as needed Utilize tools such as scales, calculators, staple gun, calipers, tape measurer, and various gauges
  • Operate forklift as needed following all safety policies
  • Read and understand work orders Accurately label, weigh scrap, daily paperwork such as order sheet and inspection sheet
  • Purge and shutdown equipment Maintain clean work area and ensure that backup or C/O material is provided
  • Communicate effectively and report issues/concerns to appropriate Lead Work overtime as needed and directed Other duties as assigned
  • Must have the ability to run two lines independently for a full shift
  • Basic math and measurement skills (calipers, tape measurer, etc.)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Must have mechanical aptitude Self motivated, team oriented, and proactive
  • Must comply with all safety requirements and regulations
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years of work experience in manufacturing or warehouse
  • Ability to stand 8-12 hours a day
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to uncontrolled temperatures, heightened noise and dust
  • Safety glasses are required
