Who You Are:

You are an experienced data engineer who designs, develops, and maintains scalable datasets and high-quality ETL pipelines in AWS. You bring a comprehensive understanding of data architecture, data engineering, and data analysis, along with the ability to create reliable data products that support reporting and advanced analytics. You thrive in highly technical, cross-functional environments and combine strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills with a willingness to mentor others.

As a Consultant, youโ€™ll contribute to client engagements by delivering insights, building deliverables, and leading workstreams. Youโ€™ll be expected to bring strong analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset to solve client problems and drive transformation.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The roles and responsibilities noted below pertain to the specific role listed above.

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable ETL pipelines and datasets within AWS.
  • Coordinate, build, and manage new data ingestions from diverse and disparate sources.
  • Architect and implement updates, fixes, and performance optimizations across a suite of production data jobs.
  • Write, review, test, and maintain production-quality code supporting high-volume data processing.
  • Optimize queries, data models, and pipeline performance for datasets containing billions of records per day.
  • Monitor production workflows, troubleshoot data and processing issues, and implement durable resolutions.
  • Partner with data analysts and data scientists to design, build, and deploy data aggregation processes that support reporting and analytic solutions.
  • Recommend and implement technical and process improvements that increase reliability, scalability, efficiency, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies through proof-of-concept development, testing, and documented recommendations.
  • Mentor junior developers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and development best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business and analytical needs into scalable data solutions.
  • Work closely with clients to identify process improvements
  • Analyze business challenges and recommend technology-driven solutions
  • Support system development, integration, and testing activities
  • Develop presentations, deliverables, and implementation plans
  • Assist with proposals and business development efforts

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience designing and architecting ETL processes, data pipelines, and analytic data products.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg and large-scale table formats.
  • Strong Hadoop and Spark SQL experience, including performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data services, including EMR, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, and Airflow.
  • Demonstrated experience processing and optimizing very large datasets, including workloads involving billions of records per day.
  • Strong Python scripting and development skills, including PySpark and workflow or control scripts.
  • Experience writing, reviewing, testing, and troubleshooting production code.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering principles, data modeling, and data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and provide constructive technical guidance.
  • Prior consulting experience โ€“ in an agile environment โ€“ with a leading strategy firm, consulting practice, or consulting technology firm
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Scala.
  • Experience using Git for version control and collaborative software development.
  • Experience with shell scripting and Linux-based development or production environments.
  • Experience building data products for reporting, statistical analysis, data science, or advanced analytics.
  • Prior experience in Telecommunications, Media, or Cable is highly preferred
  • Past success in generating new business with existing clients
  • Good time management and collaboration skills

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Excelacom offers competitive salaries, health and wellness benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and career growth opportunities.  For regular full-time employees, the estimated salary range is from $90,000 to $115,000.
