SpringHill is a youth outreach and discipleship ministry that uses immersive experiences to impact lives and prepare the next generation of Christ-centered leaders. Our team is community focused, fun, and committed to cheering each other on in our work and personal faith.


What You’ll Do

The Extra Support Coordinator leads SpringHill’s efforts to provide safe, sustainable, and inclusive camp experiences for campers who require additional support. This position oversees camper intake and support planning, prepares and trains seasonal staff, partners with families, and provides on-site leadership throughout the summer season.

During the off season, the Coordinator focuses on planning, camper review, family communication, staff preparation, training development, and continuous improvement. From staff training in May through the second week of August, the Coordinator works approximately 40 hours per week and provides hands-on leadership across SpringHill programs.

How You’ll Lead

Camper Intake and Support Planning

o Manage the intake and review process for campers requesting Extra Support.

o Communicate with parents or guardians to understand each camper’s strengths, needs, routines, accommodations, and potential safety concerns.

o Determine appropriate support levels in partnership with program leadership.

o Create and maintain individualized camper support plans and confidential records.

o Maintain and clearly communicate SpringHill’s Extra Support Scope of Service.

o Provide alternative program resources when SpringHill cannot safely meet a camper’s needs.

Summer Operations

o Serve as an on-site Extra Support leader during the summer season.

o Coach Extra Support leaders, counselors, and program staff in implementing camper support plans.

o Provide timely problem-solving and hands-on support for Overnight camp teams.

o Support staff responding to escalated behaviors or campers in crisis and facilitate appropriate debriefs.

o Monitor camper progress and adjust support strategies when needed.

o Maintain appropriate communication with families before, during, and after camp.

Training and Staff Leadership

o Develop and deliver training for Extra Support staff and general summer staff.

o Train staff in inclusion, de-escalation, co-regulation, daily living support, behavior support, and appropriate boundaries.

o Recruit, interview, onboard, coach, and evaluate qualified Extra Support staff in partnership with the Recruiting team.

o Communicate camper-specific strategies to counselors and leaders while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

o Conduct end-of-season evaluations and gather feedback from seasonal Extra Support leaders.

Accessibility and Program Support

o Partner with Program and Activities teams to adapt activities, curriculum, environments, and events for accessibility.

o Develop and maintain visual supports, sensory resources, assistive tools, and activity adaptations.

o Maintain an inventory of Extra Support and sensory materials.

o Recommend improvements to policies, procedures, facilities, and program practices that strengthen inclusion and camper safety.

Communication and Partnerships

o Educate Registration staff regarding Extra Support processes, policies, availability, and family communication.

o Maintain accurate Extra Support information for internal teams and SpringHill’s website.

o Build relationships with colleges, professional programs, agencies, and organizations that can support staff recruitment and program development.

o Collaborate with Marketing, Development, Recruiting, Registration, and Program teams on Extra Support initiatives.

o Offseason priorities are completed within the position’s limited weekly schedule.


What We Are Looking For

o Commitment to SpringHill’s mission, ministry philosophy, and faith-centered culture.

o At least two years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities or additional behavioral, developmental, physical, or emotional needs.

o Degree in special education, recreational therapy, occupational therapy, social work, psychology, education, or a related field preferred.

o Experience conducting intakes, developing support plans, or coordinating accommodations preferred.

o Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and support seasonal staff.

o Strong judgment and the ability to respond calmly and confidently to challenging situations.

o Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

o Strong organization, documentation, and confidentiality practices.

o Ability to work independently during the off season and collaboratively in a fast-paced summer camp environment.

o Ability to work on-site and travel among assigned SpringHill locations.
