Job description

Nurse Assistant - Extended Care - Contingent

Private duty services may be arranged for patients who need extended care, from a few hours a week to round-the-clock-care. Typically, this is paid for privately, or through specialized, long-term care policies.

We tailor our services to fit the specific needs of our clients in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Flexible scheduling allows us to provide short-term or long-term care to clients in the home or facility setting, as well as specialized care for students in their schools.

GENERAL SUMMARY:ย 

Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse or designee, performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  ย ย ย ย ย ย Provides input to assist in planning and implementing patient care.
  • ย ย ย ย ย  ย ย ย ย ย ย Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
  • ย ย ย ย  ย ย ย ย ย ย  Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.
  • ย ย ย ย  ย ย ย ย ย ย ย The Home Health Aide follows the Henry Ford Health Team Member Standards ofย  ย Excellence in all interactions.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:ย 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.ย 

ASSESSMENTS REQUIRED:

  • Requires ability to pass a written Home Health Aide competency test with score of 90% or above.
  • Requires ability to pass the HHA Skills Assessment Competency Evaluation.ย 

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:ย 

  • CNA or
  • Certification as a Home Care Aide (HCA) preferred, orย 
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g. Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role), OR
  • May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course, OR
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license, OR
  • Medical Assistant program with OR without experience.ย 

LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
  • Must possess a current driver's license and a satisfactory driving record to travel to and from various Home Health Care locations.
