The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150+ elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years.
Extended School Day personnel assist the administrator of a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago and are responsible for the supervision of students enrolled in the extended school day program.
Accountability
Extended School Day personnel are hired by and accountable to the principal. The extended day staff is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago and with the educational policies and procedures of the local Catholic school. The extended day staff cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
The specific position expectations will be reviewed and evaluated periodically and will be incorporated in the documented annual performance review.
General Responsibilities
The duties of the extended day worker will include but are not limited to:
  • accepting position-related responsibilities and duties assigned by the principal
  • following established procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of the students
  • maintaining a secure and orderly environment
  • maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding school and classroom matters
  • attending faculty and staff meetings as required by the principal

The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position.
Environmental and Physical Demands
The extended school day worker is expected to carry materials and climb stairs.
Requirements and Preferences
  • practicing Catholic preferred
  • compliance with Safe Environment Requirements
  • high school graduate, GED or equivalent supervisory skills
  • ability to work with students in a less structured but organized environment.

This position has a hourly range of $15.00 - $15.40. An employee's pay within the range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
