Job description

Latin School is seeking applicants for a part-time Extended Day Coordinator position.
Latin School of Chicago is seeking applicants for a part-time Extended Day Coordinator position. The Extended Day Coordinator is responsible for the daily coordination and successful implementation of the Extended Day program, helping to create a safe, organized, and engaging after-school environment that supports the positive growth and well-being of students. Reports to Assistant Director of Latin 360°.
JOB DUTIES:
Work as part of an exceptional team to:
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the Extended Day program
  • Serve as the primary on-site support for Extended Day staff by providing guidance, coordinating schedules, room coverage, student transitions, and staff assignments.
  • Monitor attendance and dismissal procedures, including scanning weekly attendance sheets, coordinating safe dismissals, and assisting with parent communication and student pick-up.
  • Support staff through coaching, modeling best practices, and providing coverage during breaks, absences, or other staffing needs.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for student behavior concerns, partnering with staff and the Assistant Director to implement positive behavior strategies and document incidents as needed.
  • Support the planning and implementation of daily activities, special events, and enrichment opportunities while ensuring program spaces, supplies, and materials are organized and prepared.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Assistant Director and Latin 360° office to communicate operational updates, staffing needs, and opportunities for continuous program improvement.
  • Model Latin's mission by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for students, families, and staff.

HOURS & COMPENSATION
  • Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. (unless otherwise agreed upon)
  • Compensation: $25.00/hour.*
  • *Returning employees in this role will enjoy an annual compensation increase of $0.50 per hour.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Experience working in after-school programs, youth development, education, recreation, or a related field.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong classroom management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic after-school environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods. Able to run, climb stairs, bend, and kneel occasionally.
  • Able to lift, move, and carry materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and respond quickly to critical incidents to ensure student safety.
