Job description

Magdalen’s Preschool is accepting applications for a part-time extended day assistant teacher for children 3-5 years of age. We are looking for someone who is dependable, responsible, team-oriented and has a passion for working with children of all developmental levels. This candidate must have the ability to understand preschool children and find teaching them a pleasure. All candidates should be passionate about working with children and willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy and curriculum. Candidates should have the ability to build rapport with children and families. Magdalen’s Preschool follows the State of Michigan licensing requirements.
The position is part-time, up to 18.75 hours per week, afternoons (12:00 – 3:15pm)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lesson implementation and classroom preparation
  • Assist with student supervision and maintaining the health and safety of all students
  • Snack time, gym, and outside playground duties
  • Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, playtime, and developmental growth
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
  • Assist lead teacher with communication with parents on students' growth and progress
  • Create a fun and safe learning environment while promoting emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual growth for our students
  • Complete all State of Michigan licensing annual requirements for teachers

Qualifications: Include, but are not limited to:
  • Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
  • Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields
  • Positive and patient demeanor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
