A Pharmacy Technician, Shipping/Fulfillment (1st shift) is responsible for supporting pharmacists in the processing, packaging, labeling, and verification workflow of prescription medications in a high-volume mail order pharmacy environment. This role ensures prescriptions are prepared accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations, safety standards, and company policies. The technician also supports inventory control, order staging, and shipment readiness to ensure patients receive medications safely and on time.
Responsibilities:
Prescription Fulfillment amp; Packaging
  • Accurately pull, count, and package prescription medications according to prescription orders and internal procedures.
  • Prepare prescriptions for final pharmacist verification by ensuring correct drug, strength, quantity, and labeling.
  • Assist with processing prescriptions in a fast-paced mail order environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Labeling, Staging, and Order Preparation
  • Generate and apply prescription labels and auxiliary labels as required.
  • Organize and stage completed orders for pharmacist verification and shipping.
  • Ensure prescriptions are packaged appropriately for safe transport and patient delivery.
Quality Assurance amp; Accuracy Checks
  • Perform visual inspections of medications and packaging to confirm correct product selection and order completeness.
  • Identify and report discrepancies such as incorrect product, missing items, labeling errors, or damaged packaging.
  • Maintain consistent accuracy standards while meeting production and turnaround expectations.
Shipping amp; Mail Order Processing
  • Prepare prescription orders for shipment, including sealing packages and verifying shipment contents.
  • Assist with mail order workflows such as batching, sorting, and preparing outbound packages.
  • Support timely order processing to meet service-level expectations and patient delivery timelines.
  • Report low stock levels, shortages, and supply concerns to leadership.
Compliance amp; Regulatory Standards
  • Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, including applicable Ohio Board of Pharmacy rules and company quality standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Participate in required training and continuing education to remain compliant and up to date with pharmacy operations.
Reports To: Lead Pharmacy Technician
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure: Registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as either a Registered Technician or a Certified Technician
Certification: PTCB certification preferred

Experience: Previous experience in pharmacy fulfillment, mail order pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or high-volume prescription processing preferred.
