Job description

The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for an Export Warehouse Specialist to plan, schedule, and coordinate the supply, material flow, and storage of inventory from the supplier to the customer. They will control the flow of materials and/or products to ensure arrival according to schedule and specifications to maximize efficiency. The Export Warehouse Specialist will work with field support and customer service to ensure that customer requirements are met. They will also work with outside vendors to negotiate and coordinate delivery of required inventory.
This is a full-time position based out of our Bridgeport, NJ location.
How you will thrive and create an impact:
  • Develops and implements shipping and receiving work schedules and assignments to ensure efficient operation.
  • Coordinates with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that the maintenance program is followed up.
  • Supervises checking of outgoing and incoming freight for proper counts and codes.
  • Ensures that all safety procedures and policies are followed.
  • Verifies required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted.
  • Ensures inbound and outbound shipments are complete and free of damage.
  • Creates and maintains database for transportation logistical information data.
  • Acquire, collects and maintains pertinent data for transportation analysis and modeling.
  • Implements and maintains inbound/ outbound routing guides and supplier compliance program.
  • Primary liaison between warehouse and transportation.
  • Weekly and monthly analysis of transportation spends.
  • Works with sales to ensure system freight terms are aligned with contractual obligations.
  • Identifies areas of opportunity to decrease costs and improve service.
  • Works with sales to reduce transportation expense and enhance freight recovery performance.
  • Obtains the proof of delivery and/or goods receipt (GR) from customers or carriers to submit them to account receivables department on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Logistics areas or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in warehousing, transportation and logistics.
  • Experience using ERP.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Office and computer skills-mainly in Excel (dynamic tables and formulas).
  • Leadership, analytical & communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functionally.
  • Strategic thinking and engagement.
  • Ability to focus on results and conflict management skills.
  • Understanding of warehouse operation.
  • Emphasis on safety is extremely important.

Environment Working Conditions & Physical Effort:
The work environment characteristics and physical effort described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate works near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The job requires working in heights, exposure to changes in temperature, driving equipment, and maybe exposed to dust, fumes, or gases.
The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift/carry/push or pull up to 140 kg with or without assistance. Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement operating foots controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$47,000.00 - $75,900.00
Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
