About the role
Muon seeks a Machinist ( Senior ) to join our Team. You'll own the machined parts the engineering teams depend on for testing and flight- embedded between engineering and the machine shop. Design reviews on Tuesday, dialing in fixturing on Wednesday, owning first-article inspection on Friday. The named point of contact for components as it moves from CAD to finished parts
This position is fully on-site at our San Jose office, five days per week.
Responsibilities
  • Program and operate CNC mills and lathes for flight components
  • Sit in testing and tooling design reviews to flag manufacturability and tolerance issues early
  • develop fixturing, tooling, and processes to produce tooling faster and more efficiently.
  • Own first-article and in-process QC for hardware
  • Document via MES; write non-conformance tickets; maintain traceability
  • Train shop team and engineers on tooling and component-specific machining processes.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years machining for aerospace, medical, or other high-precision industries
  • Programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills; CAM (Fusion 360, MasterCAM, or similar)
  • Haas controller experience & Fanuc
  • Strong metrology fundamentals; comfortable with inspection tools
  • Comfortable with brittle materials (graphite, composites, ceramics)
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual (ITAR)
  • Able to achieve security level clearance if needed
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Matsuura, Yasda, and Haas experience
  • CMM programming
  • Tooling, Test lab & class 7+ Cleanroom experience
  • Exotic alloys, Graphite or brittle-material machining experience
Salary
The salary range for this role is $58 - $65 per hour, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
