About the role - Explosives Inventory & Warehouse Operator (Salcha, AK)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for an Explosives Inventory & Warehouse Operatorwithin our Orica USA Commercial team.
The role is responsible for supporting and operating manufacturing facilities with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance. This role will manage the storage area and movement of explosives, including dispatching and receiving finished products, detonators, tubing, and raw materials. All activities must adhere to the National Code for the Transport of Explosives by Road and Rail and Orica's Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards to ensure the highest level of operational integrity.
Work schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Shift starts at 7:00 AM
  • Work approximately 10 hours per day
  • This position will require you to report to the Orica work site five days a week

What you will be doing
  • Safely handle, store, and move explosives in and out of the magazine in line with site and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that the distribution safety schedule is met and adequate feedback is provided to distribution operators
  • Manages machinery and equipment breakdowns to minimize business interruption
  • Ensures communication of post goods issue progress
  • Liaises with site distribution to ensure documentation flows on time to meet scheduled requirements
  • Manages explosives limits within the ATF regulations
  • Manage stock levels and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments to keep product available for the field.
  • Ensures cost effective and timely delivery of product
  • Establish cost effective working relationships with distribution contractors
  • Delivers the agreed level of service
  • Ensure explosives and inventories are compliant with regulatory requirements

What you will bring
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining accurate inventory and records.
  • Commitment to safety, including consistent use of PPE, safe equipment operation, and looking out for team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools are a plus.
  • Operating equipment and front-end loader experience are a plus
  • Tractor-trailer driving experience is a plus

Physical requirements
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with some indoor work as needed.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs and carry 50 lbs or more of products and materials.
  • Perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, bending, and squatting while using equipment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and adjust schedule as needed to keep site operations running safely and efficiently

Your qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience with SAP or similar inventory systems is a plus

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay Range: $23.22 - $29.00
