What You'll Do:

As an Underground Equipment Specialist, you will manage and improve preventative maintenance for all underground assets across Dyno Nobel Americas operations, with specific responsibility for regulatory compliance and PM reporting. Other duties include:

  • Identify and manage underground asset reliability risks that could adversely affect manufacturing and business operations with a focus on increasing reliability and equipment availability

  • Administer the maintenance spare parts programs for underground (achieve overall spend reduction by leveraging inventory across fleet/equipment)

  • Support the engineering team as a key technical resource for Underground equipment operations, troubleshooting and problem resolution

  • Manage Underground commissioning and technical services personnel and provide knowledge source for all channels to market

  • Provide engineering support for underground equipment and delivery systems;

  • Where needed, conduct Underground equipment factory acceptance testing and commissioning and provide follow-on field support

  • Track issues related  equipment failure, high maintenance cost assets and safety concerns and assist in the development of plans to reduce loss and minimize cost through root cause analysis and subsequent engineering/process design solutions for UG equipment

  • Work with operations to perform analysis of assets and relevant equipment, including utilization, equipment effectiveness, remaining useful life, and other measures that help to characterize the operating condition, reliability and asset cost

  • Assist in the development of engineering solutions to resolve repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations (e.g. capacity, quality, cost, regulatory compliance, etc.) as determined from root cause analyses or other operational data analysis.

  • Write and maintain MPU (Mobile Processing Unit) specifications for use by operations and customers

  • Provide engineering oversight for selecting MPU 3rd party suppliers and builds

  • Help drive the MPU standardization process through the generation of functional descriptions and specifications for current standard equipment

What We're Looking For:

  • 5 years in underground equipment management, engineering or reliability role

  • Familiar with delivery equipment used in underground explosives applications

  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and activities for underground equipment

  • Knowledge of general engineering practices, standards and codes

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents (e.g. P&IDs, equipment specifications, etc.)

  • Basic computer skills including MS suite. 

  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team player
