What You'll Do:

As a Controls Engineer, you will develop, install, manage and maintain equipment used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes in the Dyno Nobel Americas emulsion plants and mobile fleet. You will collaborate with Wholly Owned operations to successfully implement and upgrade control systems projects for new and existing assets (fixed and mobile). Other duties include:

  • Design electrical schematics, interconnection diagrams, power distribution, control panels and other electrical drawings

  • Identify problems and potential problems with control systems and designs

  • Create functional requirements specification documents for control system designs for engineering projects and standard equipment/processes

  • Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), controls narratives and testing protocols for new and existing systems

  • Develop training documents and standards for existing machine and control designs

  • Contribute to working teams for projects

    • Ensure control system designs and construction meets the customers' requirements in all aspects

    • Manage the overall scope of work within budget and to the agreed schedule

    • Manage forecasting and reporting for project resources and scheduling

    • Oversee decisions regarding all aspects of control system project design and implementation

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Engineering Standards for the manufacture of explosives and hazardous materials

  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE rules, regulations, and standards

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 3+ years demonstrated skill in an industrial/manufacturing environment with PLC programming and trouble shooting

  • SolidWorks experience is required

  • Demonstrated skill in specific control disciplines including distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Red Lion and others helpful)

  • Working knowledge of Siemens (and other manufacturers') PLC systems, both programming and hardware

  • Understanding of power distribution, low voltage and high voltage

  • Basic knowledge of industrial manufacturing and chemical process automation & control systems

  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team player.
