Job description

About the role
Kurv Pay is a financial services company. Our infrastructure is a hybrid of on-prem VMware vSphere and a growing AWS footprint. The System Administrator maintains the day to day health, security, and performance of our servers, network, and monitoring, and supports the ongoing migration of workloads to the cloud. You will work directly with the IT and Security team on daily operations, project work, and incident response, in an environment where uptime and security are non-negotiable. You will also help maintain our compliance posture across frameworks such as PCI DSS and SOC 2.
What you will do
  • Administer Windows servers on VMware vSphere, including patching, provisioning, backups, and capacity planning.
  • Manage AWS resources including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, and RDS (PostgreSQL), and support workloads migrating to the cloud.
  • Monitor cloud health and spend through CloudWatch and Cost Explorer.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy in a hybrid identity environment synced to Microsoft Entra.
  • Manage DNS zones and records, and handle the SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle including issuance, renewal, and deployment.
  • Support Cisco switching and carry out Palo Alto firewall changes under change control.
  • Own monitoring and alerting in Nagios, including tuning checks, refining alert thresholds, and maintaining coverage.
  • Build and maintain searches, dashboards, and alerts in Splunk.
  • Run Veeam backup jobs and regularly validate restores.
  • Support endpoint security tooling including SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and AppLocker.
  • Respond to incidents, document root cause, and carry out remediation.
  • Keep runbooks, documentation, and asset inventory accurate and current.
  • Follow change management and documented security controls in all work.

Required qualifications
  • 3+ years in a system administration role.
  • Windows Server administration (2016 through 2022).
  • VMware vSphere (ESXi and vCenter).
  • Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar).
  • Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Solid grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
  • Comfortable writing and maintaining PowerShell scripts.
  • Hands-on backup and recovery experience.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS and SOC 2.
  • Hands-on experience with AI and LLM tools, or a strong drive to apply them to organizational efficiency.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred qualifications
  • AWS experience across compute, storage, networking, and serverless (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, RDS/PostgreSQL, CloudWatch).
  • Automation and light DevOps skills (AWS CLI, Python, infrastructure as code).
  • Splunk administration or SPL.
  • Nagios or a comparable monitoring platform.
  • Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switching.
  • Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration.
  • Microsoft SQL Server fundamentals.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, VMware VCP, Security+, or CCNA.

Environment
VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux, AWS (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch), Active Directory synced to Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 365, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Veeam, Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco switching, Cloudflare, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, AppLocker, Splunk, and Nagios.
Working conditions
  • On-site at Kurv Pay's Cleveland headquarters.
  • Occasional off-hours work for patching and maintenance windows.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation.
