Job description


Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Drilling Supervisor to join the Fourmile Project team. The successful candidate will work with various stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure that all drilling programs are executed according to plan and in compliance with all Barrick Safety and Health, Contractor Management and Environmental policies and applicable regulatory agency guidelines.
Responsibilities:
  • Review project scopes of work and support drill planning
  • Provide technical advice on the suitability of proposed drilling methods to achieve project objectives
  • Ensure applicable permits are in place before work begins
  • Ensure drill sites are constructed within design parameters and ready for occupancy and that drill rigs are property set up
  • Provide detailed daily activity reporting
  • Accurately reports status updates on hole conditions, sample quality and recovery and delays to drilling
  • Liaise with Exploration, MRM and Mine Operations personnel and other stakeholders as needed
  • Ensure all down hole surveys are performed to client specifications
  • Inspect and audit all equipment and laydown areas
  • Manage inventory of consumables
  • Participate in contractor safety meetings and incident investigations
  • Conduct daily interactions with drill contractors to ensure proper execution

Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience with exploration drilling with specific technical knowledge of air rotary, core drilling and directional techniques
  • Experienced in contract management
  • Strong commitment to achieving zero accidents and citations
  • Good communication skills and problem solving skills
  • Experience with computer software (MS Office)
  • Familiarity and understanding of exploration process
  • Proven safety record
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of expertise and management
  • Schedule and job location flexibility
