The Experimentation Analyst primarily focuses on designing and analyzing A/B tests to optimize products and user experiences, often working closely with product teams. Data Analysts have a broader scope, analyzing large datasets to generate insights across various business functions. While both roles require strong analytical skills and familiarity with data tools, Experimentation Analysts specialize in testing methodologies, whereas Data Analysts focus on comprehensive data analysis and reporting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Experimentation Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Experimentation Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of statistics, and experience with A/B testing, typically supported by a degree in a quantitative field. Proficiency with tools like SQL, Python or R, and experimentation platforms such as Optimizely or Google Optimize is commonly required. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that help translate data insights into actionable recommendations. These skills are crucial for designing robust experiments, interpreting results accurately, and driving data-informed decisions within organizations.

What are some common challenges faced by Experimentation Analysts when designing and interpreting A/B tests?

Experimentation Analysts often encounter challenges such as ensuring statistically significant results, controlling for external variables, and avoiding biased sampling when designing and analyzing A/B tests. Interpreting results can also be complex, especially when dealing with ambiguous outcomes or when multiple experiments run simultaneously. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists is critical to ensure that test designs align with business goals and that findings are actionable. Staying up to date with best practices in experimental design and data analysis helps address these challenges effectively.

What is an Experimentation Analyst?

An Experimentation Analyst is a professional responsible for designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments—often A/B tests or controlled trials—to inform business decisions and optimize outcomes. They work closely with data, using statistical methods to determine the impact of changes to products, services, or processes. Experimentation Analysts collaborate with cross-functional teams to form hypotheses, establish test plans, and interpret results to provide actionable insights. Job description

Description

This is a full-time, remote position open to candidates located within the continental United States

Are you the type of person who hears about a new marketing campaign, pricing strategy, or business initiative and immediately wonders, "Did it work? Why? And should we do more of it?" Do you enjoy designing experiments, digging into the data, and separating real business impact from coincidence?

As a Business Intelligence Analyst at MASA, you'll help answer the questions that drive smarter business decisions. Working closely with our Sales and Marketing teams, you'll design structured experiments, evaluate strategic initiatives, and quantify their financial impact. Rather than simply reporting what happened, you'll determine why it happened, what it means for the business, and what we should do next.

This is an opportunity for an analytically curious professional who enjoys combining experimentation, financial analysis, and business strategy to solve meaningful problems and influence decisions across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other key business functions.

About Us

MASA has been a leader in emergency medical transportation insurance since 1974. We're not just a company - we're a close-knit team dedicated to "Protecting families with compassion when others don't." Our professional yet friendly company culture fosters collaboration, innovation, and a clear mission that resonates through every role as we support our expanding base of 2+ million members across the United States and the Caribbean. Learn more at https://www.masaaccess.com

What You Will Do

Reporting to our Sr. Manager of Finance and Data Analytics, you will partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Product leaders to evaluate strategic initiatives, uncover business improvement opportunities, and provide the analytical insight that drives smarter decisions.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and evaluating A/B tests, multivariate tests, and other structured experiments to measure the effectiveness of marketing, sales, pricing, and operational initiatives.
  • Analyzing sales, marketing, and customer data to identify emerging trends, customer behaviors, root causes of performance changes, and actionable opportunities for improvement.
  • Building financial and scenario models that quantify revenue growth, ROI, cost savings, EBITDA impact, and other business outcomes to support investment and trade-off decisions.
  • Developing Power BI dashboards and visualizations that enable stakeholders to monitor performance, evaluate test results, and make informed decisions.
  • Partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Product teams to align analytical insights with broader business strategy and planning.
  • Helping strengthen MASA's analytics capabilities by improving data quality, reporting standards, trusted business definitions, and continuous analytical processes.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Three or more years helping business leaders solve complex problems through consulting, business intelligence, marketing analytics, GTM strategy, commercial finance, or another highly analytical business role.
  • Experience designing and evaluating business experiments, including A/B or multivariate testing, and translating results into practical business recommendations.
  • Strong financial, scenario, or business modeling skills with the ability to connect KPIs to outcomes such as revenue growth, ROI, customer acquisition cost, or EBITDA.
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI and Excel, including Power Query, pivot tables, and complex formulas. Experience with VBA or Power Automate is a plus.
  • Excellent storytelling, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex analyses to non-technical audiences and senior business leaders.

What We Will Provide You

  • Competitive base salary, bonuses, and comprehensive employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, and vision insurance with highly rated carriers; a 401(k) program with a company match; paid time off; company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and basic life insurance; and a free MASA membership.
  • A professional and friendly company culture that supports a clear mission: "Protecting families with compassion when others don't."
  • An opportunity to help shape business strategy by delivering the insights and analytical rigor that drive smarter decisions across Sales and Marketing.

Why We Think You'll Love This Opportunity

Many Business Intelligence roles focus on reporting what already happened. This role is different.

You'll help business leaders evaluate new ideas before they become standard practice. Whether it's testing a marketing campaign, analyzing a pricing strategy, or modeling the impact of a business initiative, your work will help determine where MASA invests its time and resources next. If you enjoy asking tough questions, designing rigorous analyses, and seeing your recommendations influence real business decisions, you'll find this role both challenging and rewarding.
