Position Profile
Weaver's State and Local Tax team is looking for a Property Tax Experienced Associate to join their growing team.As an Associate within the State and Local Tax practice, you will be a valuable member on tax engagements and provide property tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors. You will grow your technical knowledge in state and local property taxation by working on large, complex tax projects, have access to exceptional resources, and develop your leadership skills.
As a Property Tax Experienced Associate, you will work on complex property tax engagements and research projects for clients in diverse industries. You will also analyze a wide range of tax issues and implications for various entities and their affiliates. You will prepare compliance filings, complete reviews, prepare valuations, work with assessing officials to deliver exceptional service to our clients.
To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or applicable field
  • 1-2+ years of experience with property tax compliance, planning, analysis, research and/or property tax appeals
  • Familiarity with basic tax research techniques (RIA, CCH)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred:
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or applicable field
  • CPA Candidate, CPA, CMI, or active Texas Property Tax Consultant license
  • Experience preparing property tax returns, reviewing assessments, and appeals
  • Experience working in property tax and/or with property tax assessors
  • Ability to analyze raw data from ERP systems to reconcile to trial balances and tax returns
  • Experience with PTMS or SigerTax
  • Knowledge of managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence and billing
