SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER (PE) - ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP

Senior Technical Leader | 20+ Years Experience | Path to Leadership
Lead Complex MEP Design & Mentor Engineering Teams
Global Facility Solutions (GFS) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to serve as a technical leader and mentor within our growing engineering and energy solutions team.
This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineer (20+ years) who wants to remain technically engaged while also leading projects, mentoring engineers, and influencing engineering standards and strategy.
You will play a key role in delivering complex HVAC and MEP designs, supporting energy optimization initiatives, and guiding the development of the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Design
  • Lead mechanical and HVAC system design for complex commercial and institutional projects
  • Oversee preparation of construction documents, specifications, and calculations
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and best practices
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when applicable

Technical Oversight & Quality
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables for accuracy and quality
  • Provide guidance on system selection, design strategies, and constructability
  • Troubleshoot complex engineering challenges across projects

Project Leadership
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from concept through construction
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and commissioning support

Energy & Sustainability
  • Lead energy audits and building performance assessments
  • Identify and evaluate energy conservation measures (ECMs)
  • Support sustainability and ESG-focused initiatives

Mentorship & Team Development
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Support training, development, and technical growth of the team
  • Contribute to recruiting and team building efforts

Qualifications
Required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license - REQUIRED
  • 20+ years of mechanical / HVAC engineering experience
  • Deep expertise in MEP design, HVAC systems, and building infrastructure
  • Strong proficiency in:

    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
    • Load calculation and energy modeling tools (HAP, TRACE, etc.)

  • Proven experience leading complex engineering projects

Preferred
  • Experience serving as technical lead or discipline lead
  • Background in energy engineering or sustainability initiatives
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading teams
  • Experience across healthcare, education, or government facilities

Compensation
  • Competitive base + bonus
  • Target range: $150K - $190K+ depending on experience
