Title: Exhibits Specialist
FLSA: Non-Exempt, Hourly, Full Time (40 hours a week)
Reports To: Manager of Exhibits
Wage Range: $20.00 - $26.00
Summary
Serving more than 300,000 adults and children each year, the Connecticut Science Center is the state's premier destination for informal science learning, a top tourist attraction, a hub for teacher training, and one of the state's foremost resources for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The Exhibits Department is responsible for the Science Center's creation, development, and maintenance of all exhibit functions.
Key Responsibilities
Responds to and addresses exhibit maintenance needs during occupied hours of operation. Ensure proper daily start-up and shutdown of exhibit galleries.
Pro-Actively monitors, tests, and repairs exhibits on a constant and ongoing basis during operational hours and at after hour events.
Partake in the Exhibits Department's preventative maintenance plan through scheduled inspections, maintenance, & upgrades, while maintaining accurate work records and inventory logs.
Participate in the creation, implementation, and ongoing ownership of formalized QC/Reporting initiatives.
Work collaboratively with team members from VE and Management on QC Reporting, Documentation, and exhibit training projects.
Assist in the installation and strike of traveling exhibits, including loading, and unloading of trucks, packing, and unpacking of crates, installation and teardown of exhibit components, and provide technical support for installation crew.
Actively participates in a visitor-centric culture in providing an outstanding guest experience.
Provide support to Facilities team for various building/facilities projects, preventative maintenance initiatives & emergency situations.
Maintain, upgrade, and fabricate exhibits/exhibit parts through the use and implementation of carpentry, electronic, audio/visual/computer, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
Assist and comply with shop safety, organization, and inventory control practices & procedures.
