Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position

POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026 and/or Spring Semester 2027.

THE DEPARTMENT: Our Department approaches kinesiology from life-sciences, cognitive-behavioral sciences, and humanities perspectives with a strong emphasis on social justice and inclusion https://www.csueastbay.edu/kin/.  We offer Bachelor's and Master's in Science degrees and have a Physical Education Single Subject waiver option. We are a vibrant department currently serving over 400 Majors. Our Department prides itself on its campus-wide recognition of our student-centered approach to teaching, engagement in community service, and scholarly activity. Our Program also boasts a highly diverse student body. We take a cross-disciplinary approach to the field of kinesiology and thus require a broad core for all students. DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The Department of Kinesiology periodically employs a limited number of temporary, part-time faculty to teach courses within the department (lecture, laboratory, and physical activity classes). Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.  

RANK AND SALARY: Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions. The salary ranges for the Lecturer-Academic Year classification are listed below:

Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507 - $6,677

Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221 - $13,224

Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825 - $14,523

Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593 - $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

DATES OF APPOINTMENT:

Fall Semester Start & End dates: 08/17/26 - 12/18/26

Spring Semester Start & End dates: 01/19/27 - 05/21/27

QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in a Kinesiology related field is required to teach lecture-based lower division courses and physical activity courses. Prior university experience teaching the physical activity or a relevant coaching or industry qualification may be considered for physical activity classes. A Doctoral degree in a Kinesiology related field is preferred to teach upper division major and graduate lecture and laboratory courses.
