The Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer will conduct exercise classes and programming at Blackberry. The Fitness Instructor provides high-quality service to guests through education and counseling. The Fitness Instructor will assist the Wellness Manager in creating and providing exercise programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Conduct group fitness classes and/or personal training sessions
• Remains current on scientific exercise information
• Ensures confidentiality with respect to guest data according to HIPAA regulations and Blackberry confidentiality guidelines
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered
• Perform prep work, properly clean and restock room as required
• Maintain a working knowledge of the Company's property, as well as special events on and near property, in order to advise guests of the same, whenever possible
• Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction is achieved and maintained
• Regularly attend, participate in, and support training and staff meetings for the Center
• Assist in all areas of the spa operation, including the locker room as needed, as requested by management
• Actively promote home care programs, meeting retail sales goals
• Maintain a professional reputation in the company and community
• Properly prepare and safely handle beverages and snack items offered
• Ensure the cleanliness and restocking of supplies
• Perform any tasks deemed necessary by the manager
Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
To perform the essential functions of this position, regular and consistent attendance is required.
Must be able to work well with other Team Members and managers and interact with our guests.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Experience in individual/ group counseling preferred
• Previous hospital or wellness center experience preferred
• Current CPR Certification
• High School Diploma or equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Must have excellent verbal communication skills
• Must have the ability to prepare/write educational materials for guests
• Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Basic knowledge and understanding of math
• Ability to calculate calorie and nutrient requirements
REASONING ABILITY
• Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. and equipment up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle or golf cart
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be able to work in a calm and quiet spa setting
