Our amazing Pharmacy Team dispenses approximately 8,000,000 individualized patient doses per year, as well as 262,000 retail/mail order prescriptions. We provide medications that are safe and efficacious.

After initial training period, position may work from home up to two days per week.
As a Pharmacy Technician, Specialty Pharmacy, you will provide high-touch, patient-centric care to drive an exceptional experience for patients enrolled in the ChristianaCare Specialty Pharmacy Program.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as the patient and their caregiver's primary point of contact for the ChristianaCare Specialty Pharmacy Program.
  • Triages and coordinates the patient's and their caregiver's needs to escalate issues to the appropriate clinical or non-clinical resources both internally and externally of the organization.
  • Develops relationships with patients and their caregivers to provide an exceptional and engaging experience while enrolled in the ChristianaCare Specialty Pharmacy Program.
  • Serves as the program's liaison to office practice clinical and operations staff.
  • Conducts initial and follow-up benefit investigation (BI) to assist providers and patients in the timely initiation or continuity of specialty medication therapy.
  • Coordinates the patient's enrollment in patient assistance programs to improve affordability of specialty medication therapy.
  • Facilitates processing of third-party payer prior authorization (PA) and utilization management (UM), and step-edits for specialty medications to expedite therapy initiation or avoid therapy disruption.
  • Coordinates with the program's clinical pharmacist team and pharmacy operations team to achieve the program's goals and objectives. These activities include but are not limited to specialty medication prescription refill coordination, implementation or execution of non-clinical care plan activities, documents program activities, coordination with external specialty pharmacies, reporting of performance metrics, etc.
  • Enter patient information and prescription orders in the outpatient pharmacy dispensing system, paying particular attention to drug, dose, route, frequency, refills, date, quantity, third party payer, and other required information.
  • Completes tasks in the prescription dispensing workflow under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Coordinates refills of patient prescriptions, as time allows.
  • Must be flexible in work assignments and be able to fill in operational positions, as needed.
  • Understand limitations of scope of practice and demonstrates ability to escalate clinical concerns to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of program.
  • Performs other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
  • At least 3 years of outpatient pharmacy or specialty pharmacy experience required
  • Applicants enrolled or graduate of a 4-year bachelor program in the following health science majors are encourage to apply and will be required PTCB certification in 1 year of employment: Applied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Biology, Chemistry, Exercise Science, Health
    Behavior Science, Human Physiology, Medical Diagnostics, Medical Diagnostics Pre-PA, Medical Laboratory Science, Nutrition, Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition and Medical Sciences, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant or Sports Health.
  • Expectational customer service skills required

Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
