Job description

Inova Fairfax Hospital  is looking for a dedicated Exercise Physiologist 1 to join our Pulmonary Diagnostics team. This role will be Full-time, Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 4 days per week for 9 hour-shifts, 6:30am-4pm

Exercise Physiologist Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidities and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review. 
  • Reviews and develops Individual Treatment Plans. Develops exercise and strength training programs, patient education, and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes. 
  • Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation. 
  • Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of the healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation. 
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association within 6 months; Certified Exercise Physiologist from American College of Sports Medicine - Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM CEP) for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab within 12 months; or Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation - Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (AACVPR CCRP) for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab within 12 months
