The exercise physiologist provides members with the best possible fitness experience by giving them the tools, direction, and motivation to help them succeed. He or she must have the communication and interpersonal skills to educate and inspire members to meet their goals and to motivate clients to give their best on a daily basis. The Exercise Physiologist provides fitness assessments, creates and monitors exercise programs, and maintains the fitness center and equipment in a meticulously detailed and functional manner.
Job Description:
The exercise physiologist provides members with the best possible fitness experience by giving them the tools, direction, and motivation to help them succeed. He or she must have the communication and interpersonal skills to educate and inspire members to meet their goals and to motivate clients to give their best on a daily basis. The Exercise Physiologist provides fitness assessments, creates and monitors exercise programs, and maintains the fitness center and equipment in a meticulously detailed and functional manner.
The ideal candidate has a degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Comfortable working with varied populations and teaching large and small group fitness classes.. Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid a plus. He or she has a positive attitude and is enthusiastic about fitness, has an active lifestyle, and has superior customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides fitness evaluations and individual cardiovascular and weight training programs for members
  • Supervises the use of all equipment to ensure member safety
  • Ensures the fitness areas and equipment are clean and working properly at all times
  • Completes and maintains fitness documentation (member assessments, evaluations, individual training records, etc.)
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures
  • Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • College degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Two years of experience preferred
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus
  • Must exhibit the characteristics of an active and healthy lifestyle
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, staff, and others
  • Safety and customer service oriented
  • Personality that is outgoing, upbeat, positive, and motivating
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Proficient computer and internet skills
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
