Position Overview

The role of the Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Scripps Health Recovery is integral to supporting individuals facing a range of mental health challenges. This full-time position requires a passion for helping others, a commitment to recovery-oriented practices, and the ability to provide high-quality mental health services from a remote setting. The successful candidate will hold a valid BBS designation (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills necessary for therapeutic relationships.

About the Organization

Scripps Health Recovery is dedicated to elevating the standard of mental health care in Stockton, California, and surrounding communities. Our community health clinic focuses on delivering compassionate, evidence-based treatment solutions to foster recovery and promote well-being. We believe in creating an inclusive environment where our staff is supported and empowered to make a real difference in patients' lives.

Work Environment

This position allows for remote work, enabling flexibility in your daily schedule while maintaining a strong connection with the team and patients through virtual consultations and training sessions. You will leverage technology to provide assessments, treatment, and ongoing support, ensuring that patients receive consistent care tailored to their specific needs. The remote setting allows for a better work-life balance, enhancing productivity and job satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify the mental health needs of patients, including developing culturally sensitive treatment plans tailored to various mental health conditions.
  • Provide evidence-based short-term counseling utilizing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or motivational interviewing for patients struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and other mental health issues.
  • Deliver short-term case management services, collaborating closely with patients to navigate their recovery journey and connect them with additional resources within the community.
  • Participate as an active team member in crisis intervention scenarios by conducting assessments, employing de-escalation techniques, and coordinating efforts with public mental health teams when higher-level intervention is required.
  • Implement follow-up assessment and prevention planning post-crisis to help ensure effective continuity of care, including working with other healthcare professionals and agencies as necessary.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with diverse patient populations, including individuals experiencing mental health disorders, families in crisis, and clients dealing with psychosocial stressors like domestic violence and grief. Your work will also involve addressing the unique needs of patients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, enhancing your therapeutic efficacy and fostering trust and rapport.

Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a behavioral science field is required, along with a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience.
  • Current, active state licensure in Social Work (LCSW), Counseling (LPCC), or Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) is essential.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical mental health services, with a strong emphasis on working with individuals, families, and groups to facilitate mental health improvement.
  • Solid understanding of various mental health disorders and effective treatment modalities that promote successful outcomes for patients.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation, which complies with all operational and safety standards.
Preferred Experience
  • 3 or more years in mental health counseling or related fields are preferred, showcasing a track record of successful client engagements and positive treatment outcomes.
  • Knowledge and experience with telehealth platforms and digital documentation systems are advantageous for effective service delivery in a remote setting.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this full-time role is competitive, between $120,000 and $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, Scripps Health Recovery offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
  • Health, dental, and life insurance options to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts to support personal finance management.
  • Generous paid time off policies, fostering a healthy work-life balance.
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate personal and family needs.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Scripps Health Recovery, we invest in your professional development through ongoing training and mentorship programs. Employees have opportunities for advancement within the organization, with pathways to leadership roles or specialized clinical positions based on interest and performance. Regular workshops and continuing education initiatives ensure that you remain at the forefront of mental health treatment practices.
