The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research team conducting cutting-edge research in flexible and wearable electronics, energy harvesting and storage, multifunctional sensing devices, soft robotics, and intelligent human-centered technologies.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design, fabrication, characterization, and integration of next-generation flexible electronic systems for applications in healthcare, robotics, wearable technologies, and human-machine interaction. The position offers opportunities to work on multidisciplinary projects spanning materials, device engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

Candidates with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Flexible and wearable electronics

  • Materials science and engineering

  • Energy harvesting and self-powered systems

  • Sensors and multifunctional sensing technologies

  • Soft robotics and robotic systems

This is a full-time position with an initial appointment of one year, renewable annually for up to five years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of continued external research funding. Competitive salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with NJIT policies.

Prerequisite Qualifications
  • A recently awarded Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated research experience in one or more of the following areas: flexible and wearable electronics, soft robotics, advanced functional materials, energy harvesting, multifunctional sensors, human-machine interaction, robotics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.

  • Evidence of scholarly achievement, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to conduct independent research while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, characterization, and testing of flexible electronic devices, sensors, robotic systems, or related technologies.

  • Experience with advanced laboratory instrumentation and characterization techniques (e.g., electrical, mechanical, optical, thermal, or materials characterization).

  • Programming and data analysis experience using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, or related scientific computing tools.

  • Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students and contributing to the preparation of research proposals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary research team involving engineering, materials science, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
