Job Description: Classroom Teacher  FLSA Status:  Exempt Department: Teaching  Reports to: Principal Location: Schools  Salary Scales: Teacher Scale (A-AAAA) Position Type:  Full-Time  Salary Range: $50,958-$83,920 Description of Position: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal with support from curriculum specialists and academic coaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare Lesson Plans That Meet the Needs of Learners

  • Ensure lessons are aligned to standards and represent a coherent sequence of learning.
  • Prepare lessons with high levels of learning for all students.
  • Provide Quality Instruction That Leads to Student Understanding.
  • Assist students in taking responsibility for learning and monitor student learning.
  • Provide multiple ways for students to make meaning of content.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to individual differences and developmental stages of students.

Maintain a Culture and Learning Environment That Promotes Student Learning

  • Manage a learning-focused classroom community.
  • Manage classroom space, time, and resources (including technology when appropriate) effectively for student learning.
  • Create and maintain a classroom of respect for all students.


Maintain a High Level of Professionalism

  • Engage in professional learning.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues, students, and families/guardians.

 
Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University
  • Minimum Class "A" Mississippi Teaching Certificate
  • Subject required endorsement(s) to be "highly qualified".
