Description
The Release and Deployment Management Lead is responsible for coordinating and governing production releases across infrastructure, application, cloud, and security domains, ensuring structured change control, deployment validation, and minimal operational risk to enterprise systems
Location: Rockville, MD
Salary:  138,000-176,000
Clearance:  Secret or L Clearance
 
 
Responsibilities:
Coordinate enterprise release schedules impacting VMware infrastructure, Microsoft 365 configurations, network devices, database updates, security tool implementations, and endpoint deployments, ensuring proper sequencing, dependency validation, and production readiness
Manage release documentation including deployment plans, rollback strategies, testing validation results, change impact analyses, and CAB approval artifacts within ITSM workflows
Validate that all releases have been successfully tested in development and test environments prior to production implementation and confirm monitoring, backup, and logging integrations are functioning as expected
Lead Change Advisory Board coordination sessions to review infrastructure and system modifications, evaluate operational risk, and ensure compliance with enterprise governance processes
Oversee post-implementation validation activities including performance monitoring, SLA impact review, incident tracking, and root cause documentation when required
Produce release calendars, deployment reports, and change performance metrics for executive review
Ensure quality standards are maintained including zero unauthorized releases, documented approval trails, rollback capability validation, and measurable reduction in change-related service disruptions
 Requirements
Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant engineering experience supporting enterprise information systems environments. Demonstrated experience designing, integrating, validating, and optimizing infrastructure changes across complex IT environments
Master's Degree with 6+ years or Associate's Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience may be substituted
Experience leading enterprise release and deployment engineering activities across VMware infrastructure, network environments, database platforms, Microsoft 365 services, cloud workloads, and security tooling
Demonstrated knowledge of release engineering methodologies including deployment sequencing, dependency validation, rollback planning, and production readiness assessment
Experience conducting technical risk assessments for infrastructure and system modifications and developing mitigation strategies to minimize operational and SLA impact
Strong understanding of Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes and technical change risk evaluation within IT governance environments
Experience utilizing ITSM workflows for change documentation, release validation tracking, approval management, and audit traceability
Demonstrated ability to validate successful testing within development and test environments prior to production implementation, ensuring monitoring, backup, logging, and security integrations function as intended
Experience overseeing post-implementation validation activities including performance monitoring, incident analysis, root cause documentation, and corrective action verification
Knowledge of deployment performance metrics and change-related service impact analysis to support continuous improvement initiatives
