To thrive as a Typography Executive, you need a strong background in graphic design, an in-depth understanding of typefaces, and typically a degree in design or a related field. Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, font management software, and knowledge of print and digital production processes is essential. What is an Executive Typography and what do they do?

An Executive Typography is a professional responsible for overseeing the design, selection, and implementation of typefaces and typographic styles within an organization’s branding or visual communications. They ensure consistency, readability, and aesthetic appeal across all company materials, from digital media to print. Their role often involves collaborating with graphic designers, marketing teams, and creative directors to maintain a cohesive visual identity. Executive Typographies may also set standards and guidelines for font usage and help educate teams on best practices in typography.

Executive Typography professionals often work closely with marketing, branding, and design teams to ensure visual consistency and effective communication across all platforms. Job description

Job Summary:
Adobe is a leading company focused on empowering creativity through innovative platforms and tools. They are seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the evolution of typography within Adobe’s suite of creative tools, integrating AI and enhancing user experiences across Creative Cloud applications.
Responsibilities:
• Establish a long-term vision for how typography evolves alongside generative workflows, including type creation, transformation, personalization, and intelligent layout.
• Define how AI can enhance typographic exploration and craft—without eroding authorship, intent, or typographic quality.
• Partner closely with leadership across multiple teams, including Adobe Research, to ensure typography is a first-class citizen in Adobe’s generative AI platform strategy.
• Own the end-to-end product strategy for Adobe Fonts and typography capabilities across Creative Cloud applications.
• Align typography roadmaps with broader Creative Cloud AI initiatives, including cross-app consistency, shared models, and platform services.
• Find opportunities where typography can unlock differentiated Creative Cloud experiences—such as smarter font discovery, adaptive typography, and AI-assisted build systems.
• Lead, mentor, and scale a team of Product Managers, setting clear expectations around strategy, execution, and impact.
• Empower PMs to partner deeply with Design, Engineering, Research, and Data Science to ship new innovation in creative ability and user experience.
• Create a culture of strong product thinking, rapid learning, and high creative standards.
• Represent the voice of designers, typographers, and creative professionals in all product decisions.
• Balance automation and assistance with respect for typographic nuance, global languages, and accessibility.
• Invest in research and experimentation to understand how AI can elevate—not flatten—typographic expression.
• Define success metrics that reflect creative empowerment, adoption of AI-powered features, and long-term platform health.
• Clearly communicate strategy, progress, and findings to executive collaborators and cross-functional partners.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years of product management experience, including leadership of multiple Product Managers.
• Proven success defining and accomplishing strategy for platform or ecosystem-scale products.
• Experience working across complex, matrixed organizations.
• Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts as applied to creative tools and workflows.
• Experience partnering with ML, data, or applied research teams to ship AI-powered products.
• Clear point of view on how generative AI should augment human creativity.
• Ability to connect typography, design systems, AI platforms, and business outcomes into a cohesive strategy.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and shaping direction in rapidly evolving spaces.
• Strong product judgment and prioritization skills.
• Inspiring people manager with a track record of developing product talent.
• Excellent communicator who can align executives, partners, and teams around a shared vision.
• Skilled at translating complex technical and AI concepts into clear product narratives.
