What is an Executive SOAR Engineer?

An Executive SOAR Engineer is a cybersecurity professional who specializes in Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms at a strategic level. They design, implement, and manage automated security workflows to improve incident response efficiency for organizations. In an executive role, they also oversee cybersecurity operations, collaborate with leadership to align security initiatives with business goals, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Their work helps organizations to respond to threats faster and more effectively by leveraging automation and orchestration technologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Executive SOAR Engineer?

  • Proven ability to design approval gates, segregation of duties, rollback procedures, and human-in-the-loop controls in automated change workflows.
  • Experience producing audit and regulatory evidence for automated changes
  • Strong reliability engineering instincts: monitoring, alerting, replay, versioning, source control, CI/CD-style promotion across environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable briefing executives and partnering with audit, risk, and GRC teams.
