Job description

Quantinuum is seeking a senior customer-facing technical leader to help shape and deliver quantum computing solutions for strategic customers in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector.
This role may be hired at either the Principal or Director level, depending on organizational needs as well as the candidate's experience, leadership scope, and demonstrated ability to lead teams and strategic portfolios.
In this role you will leverage your deep experience with computational R&D approaches in pharmaceutical industries such as:
  • advanced analytics and AI;

  • computational biology and omics;

  • computational chemistry;

  • computer aided drug design; and

  • model-informed clinical development.

This knowledge will guide you as you help customers identify challenges that are well suited to near-term quantum approaches and work with them to shape a project scope aligned with our research strengths.
In addition, you will provide valuable market feedback to our research team leaders to help keep our research roadmaps aligned with industry needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clear, up-to-date catalogue of industry-appropriate use cases that guides both customer engagement and internal research planning.
Candidates hired at the Director level will additionally be responsible for leading and developing the Solutions Architecture team, overseeing technical quality and prioritization across the broader customer portfolio, and helping define the operating model and best practices for the function while continuing to contribute directly to strategic customer engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical leader for assigned strategic accounts, partnering with Strategic Account Executives on account planning, technical discovery, and solution development.

  • Help customers identify high-value applications for quantum computing within pharmaceutical and life sciences R&D workflows, informed by a strong understanding of current quantum algorithm capabilities and limitations.

  • Maintain a catalogue of industry-relevant use cases and support the development of customer-facing technical and proposal materials.

  • Define project scopes with customers in collaboration with internal research teams, ensuring alignment with our technical roadmap, research strengths, and the practical prospects of near-term quantum approaches.

  • Provide market and customer feedback to internal research leaders to keep roadmaps aligned with industry needs.

  • Stay current on advances in quantum technology and financial industry trends, developing deep expertise in relevant quantum algorithms, use cases, technical limitations, and roadmap developments.

  • (Director level only) Lead and develop the Solutions Architecture team, including coaching, performance management, resource allocation, and establishing technical best practices across the organization.

  • (Director level only) Oversee technical quality, portfolio visibility, and prioritization across the broader Solutions Architecture function while continuing to contribute directly to strategic customer engagements.

YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Master's degree in computational life sciences, physics, computer science, or related field.

  • 10+ years working in industrial research programs in the pharmaceutical and life-sciences sector.

  • (Director level only) Experience leading technical teams or managing direct reports in a customer-facing or applied research environment.

  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

WE VALUE:
  • Education: PhD in a life sciences, physics, mathematics, or a related STEM field.

  • Experience working with or exposure to quantum technologies.

  • Significant experience managing customer relationships, with a track record of delivering successful and technically complex projects.

  • Comfortable partnering with sales leaders while maintaining independent technical judgement.

  • Strong ability to translate between business objectives and technical execution.

  • Executive-level communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence without formal authority.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

$180,000 - $250,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible - Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicable
The pay range for this role is $180,000 - $250,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate's skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
