Unit Summary
The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a dynamic and fast-paced clinical environment where nurses play a vital role throughout the perioperative experience. Pre-Anesthesia Screening Services (PASS) provide comprehensive preoperative evaluations, patient preparation, and essential education for patients and their families. PASS nurses also serve as key liaisons, facilitating communication among anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other members of the healthcare team.
Peri-anesthesia nurses in the PACU care for a diverse patient population across a wide range of surgical specialties and trauma presentations. Success in this environment requires strong critical-thinking abilities, expert assessment and intervention skills, and effective communication. Teamwork, adaptability, and exceptional customer service are central to achieving optimal patient outcomes.
*This is a Full-Time position for the10:00am - 10:30pm shift.*
Requirements
  • Education:
    • Minimum of Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing
    • Formal working knowledge equivalent to two years of college-level study
  • Experience:
    • 1-3 years of RN PACU or ICU/ED experience required
  • Licensure & Certifications:
    • Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) License
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
